Cordless vs. Corded Lawn Care Tools Comparison

Posted on 09 March 2009 by Phil Hardy

When it comes to picking out an electrically-powered lawn care tool, you will need to decide whether you want one that is corded or one that is battery-powered.  When making that decision, there are several things you need to take into consideration in order to make certain you purchase the lawn care tool that best suits your needs.

Performance

In terms of the amount of power you can receive from the lawn care tool, you can expect to receive the same amount of power from one that is battery-powered as you would with a corded lawn care tool.  Although battery-powered tools once had a bad reputation for having poor power, this is no longer the case if you purchase a quality tool.

Power Source

Obviously, a corded lawn tool will receive its power by being plugged-in, whereas a cordless lawn tool will be powered by a battery.  As such, your corded tool will be able to perform for as long as you need, while a battery-powered lawn tool like a WORX GT by WORX Tools will only be able to last as long as the battery is able to hold its charge.

Again, if you purchase a high-quality lawn tool, the charge should last you for as long as you need to complete a particular job.  In addition, many of these tools take only about an hour to fully charge, so you won’t have to wait long to get back to work again.

Convenience

There is no doubt that a battery-powered lawn tool is far more convenient than one that is corded.  After all, you can take a battery-powered lawn tool with you wherever you go.  With a corded lawn tool, on the other hand, you will be restricted to only those places where you can find an outlet and to where the cord can reach.

Although there are pros and cons associated with both corded and battery-powered lawn tools, most people find battery-powered tools to be the better option.  Not only are they equally as powerful, they are more convenient as well.
